Epay Wood Plugs

I found some salvaged wood originally used to line the Coney island Boardwalk, the wood is densely thick and really hard to work with, Epay has a sweet refined speckle and a smooth grain that is almost lost in it’s deep coloration. After cutting my first piece I touched the freshly cut surface with my tongue and found that the whole solid mass of wood was infused by salt, I could only wish to sit next to the sea long enough to absorb salt from the Ocean, and now after a life on the beach the wood has become a tool for me to create some polished plugs and reveal Epay’s rich grain.

Salmon Stud Earrings

These soft pink stud earrings remind me of the salmon color with an interesting slash of white with burnt sienna and green gray, they have a black seat which frames them as if they were teeny porthole paintings. This pair can be purchased through the online catalog, just click on the image to visit FakeGauge.com.

Red Stud Earrings

Most of the solid stud earrings are listed on Fakegauge.com but can also be found on Studzoo.com too, these red stud earrings were some of the first we ever punched out, they have a dark gray to black back and a solid red flat surface that is smooth to the touch and measures about 8 to 9mm across. I have them on the catalog under solid colors inside the silver plated stud’s, just click the image to view or purchase, they have a list price of $9.00 and usually go on sale around Christmas every year, here is an image with one of our models displaying the red stud earrings.

White Stud Earrings

These clean white wedding stud earrings are just a bit different than the solid bone white, the black plate in the back shifting the white in and out of view as you move around. This model is available on the catalog and can be viewed just by clicking on the image.

Black Stud Earrings

These flat black stud earrings are about as organic as they come, they’re not made with melted “something” in the middle of china. Each pair has been hand crafted right here in the USA with surgical steel earring posts and a flat black German clay which is fired hard inside a firing kiln. The one thing we can all agree on is the fact that black goes with everything, even men look great wearing these earrings, they suite anyone and will add a trendy appearance to your next outfit.

New Original Stud Earrings

Some top notch stud earrings are now filling up the shelves at FakeGauge.com I went over some of the newest releases & found some of the most interesting & appealing studs. The site features plug style porthole stud earrings with miniature scene’s that leave the mind free to wander into their own opinion on the pieces.

This pair was interesting, I just had to write about them, the stud on the left reminds me of a swirling ocean being swallowed up at one point of a large horizon lit up with brown clouds & a white sky, above that another dark piece of floating earth. The weirdest part is when you find the lady peering over the falling waters along with two other figures that can only just play their part in creating these what I have started to name, “Mini Mastre”. The earring on the right is left to it’s own intention, a certain charm is not allowed to escape while it almost disappears as a partner and at the same time becomes the missing piece to a complimentary pair.

Old School Designs in the Future…

I was looking through all the older designs, the fat boys, the marble mixes, and all the old glow in the dark stuff . I realized that while I have been refining the process I have been loosing some of that original appeal,  it might work out better if I had the time but I am always painting somewhere or too broken from work to make earrings. So over the next year I will be pulling some of those weird & whacky old school designs into the future by taking the best designs & duplicating them. The pair you see above needs a name so if you have any ideas, please comment below and keep in touch to see all of the styles that started the fake gauged & clay gauge earring designs.

Easy Riding Wood Plugs

Last summer was the first time we actually could contemplate wood plugs for the catalog, after a few brainstorming sessions, a few different designs with special idea’s were mocked up. One of our concentrations was by using the depth of the saddle to create plugs that would hold tight, & still slip comfortably into the lobe, so we went on a journey, writing E-mails to customers, & model’s that have worked with us. It turns out that the bigger the lobe is, the more chance we had for elasticity, this will allow us to vary the depth according to your gauge size, these plugs were made to stick with you, even during physical activities like running, swimming, or exercising. We decided to keep away from the usual wood types & use something unique. The NEW wood plugs should be available to the catalog before spring & just in time for next summer, check back soon for updates & or any more photo’s we post of the plugs progression.

Is it ok to wear white after labor day, if it doesn’t snow?

Working with white during the winter months just isn’t the same until it starts snowing, usually I will wait until after a snowstorm to do a photo shoot for the great lighting, but the white’s always seem to disappear, even on a model. The best part about white is that it remains clean and always jumps out even after labor day, the texture is a smooth matte that resembles bone & therefore is labelled that way throughout most of the catalog.
